In this episode of the Fastpitch Softball Chat Show, Dr. Sherry Werner covers the measurement and spin rate for a fastpitch softball breaking pitch using the RevFire Training Tool.

Dr. Werner recommends by the time your a junior pitcher to have your speed up to 20+ revolutions per sec (rps) for all your pitches, and to never stop working on your spin rate. Batter’s can catch up to a pitch that has a slow spin rate.

Fastpitch Softball Spin Rate Measurements:

High School,

  • Average: 17-18 rps
  • Good: 19-21 rps
  • Excellent: 22+ rps

College Level,

  • Average: 20-21 rps
  • Good: 22-24 rps
  • Excellent: 25+ rps
