I recently noticed more and more people wearing pants out at the fields and was wondering why the teams are switching.
I would never wear pants. I prefer to wear shorts with knee pads. I could not imagine being out in the field for 8 hours playing in 100+ temperatures in pants. I can barely walk from the front door to my car in dress pants without losing all my energy.
What are the benefits to wearing pants?
Pants are more comfortable than you think…they are also not has hot as you could imagine them to be in this 100+ Texas weather.
I like wearing pants because they look old school and stylish on the field plus they help keep womens legs from getting so torn up. I know i have many scars on my legs from sliding and diving in shorts that I could have prevented in pants.
I much prefer to wear pants.
I have two girls.
On my oldests team she wears pants. Which is great because I do not have to play doctor when she slides and scrapes her knee.
My youngest wears shorts. They are in teeball so as long as she is comfortable it helps her have fun.
I would think this would translate to recreational play and travel softball. Rec softball, to me, seems like shorts are ideal. The players are out there getting the feel for the game having a greatl time. While in travel ball pants would give the girls more confidence to slide and not have to worry about being all dirty and scratched up.
