Lets hear about that time you hit the grand slam to win the game, or when you daughter hit their first home run.  I know there are a lot of great stories out there waiting to be told.

My favorite moment was at a national tournament in Park City, Utah.  It was our 3rd game of the day and i was playing center field.  It was so hot and humid and the game was tied at 1.  Their number 4 batter was up and we had one out and no one on base.  This girl was an awesome hitter but i believed that our pitcher could get it done.  I did not scoot back or shift in anyway.  i played dead center so i could play the whole field.

Dont you know this girl gets up there and drives the first pitch to my right side.  I took off chopping and i knew at some point there would be a fence because i felt like i ran forever!!!  Of course i thought my teammates would yell fence when i got close so i kept running.  Finally I felt the break-away fence break-away right underneath me as i dove for the ball!!! I stood up with a huge bruise on my side and the ball in my glove! I was so excited! I felt bad because that was the batters first over the fence homerun but what a rush!

She was already rounding second so we met in center field and we shook hands and i gave her the homerun ball! Needless to say on that play we both made it to the all star game at the end of the tournament.

ibiff – Great moment. Nothing I love more than a player who is willing to leave it all on the field for her team, and secondly a player who has confidence in her teammates. Both great signs that you have a long career ahead of you.

My greatest moments in softball were watching my daughters on very specific occasions. My oldest daughter had worked really hard to learn to switch hit. She finally got her confidence down and asked to hit leftie one game. She had 3 doubles in a row. My youngest daughter had picked up as just a base bandit for my oldest daughter's team. In one huge tournament she had no choice but to bat and was really nervous. She was younger, smaller, skinnier so the other coach yells out "everyone move up." She proceeded to hit the ball about 200 feet, but unfortunately it was foul. But the look on the other coaches face as he started screaming "everyone backup, backup, deeper" was something neither of us will ever forget.

My most memorable moment as a coach was probably last year when I had the chance to do instruction side by side with Monica Abbott in the Bahamas. Getting to do the same with Crystl Bustos this next February for the 2011 Softball Cruise Clinic will be awesome to, but I don't think it will replace that first one.

My daughter playing in a Premiere showcase in Irvine CA. (16U) in front of college scouts and hitting 3 HR's, 3 doubles, 3 singles and three walks. Talk about a good time to have a great showing!!!

Best memory was watching my 10 yr old dd  strike out 30 of 36 batters in two, tournment of champions, games.  I taught her the peel drop and she had great controll the first year of pitching.

I have many,

I'll always remember having to pitch against the King and his court in 73. Harvey Sterkel, Dick Brubaker, and Pete Carlson, refused to dress and sit on the bench, so they sat in the bleachers and watched me hold the king's 3 hitters to 3 hits and 1 run. They kept telling my cather to call rise balls, but I kept shaking him off and threw drops and change ups. We scored 3 runs but could have scored 20. Eddie accused or PR man of cheating him out of some of half the money he was suppost to get. He rolled in a big bus with his own concession and souvineer wagon. He was also mad, because we beat him because it was suppost to be his show. There were probably 2,000 fans there to see him.

I also got to pitch against Rosie Beard, the Queen and her maids, with her brother, Lotta chatter, catching her. I helped her win. We had the mayor, newpaper sports editor, sporting good store owner, and other VIPs from Aurora businesses and clubs.

Another was, when I pitched for the Camarillo Kings(76) in the ISC western softball congress, we went down to Lakewood , California on a hot sunny sunday after noon, and I pitched both games of a back to back double header, beating the Jets both games. The Jets were the runner ups in the 75 ISC world tournament, the year before.

I have so many, I could write a book.

Any moment watching my daughter play ball is a great moment.  I think her best moment, and the one that brought me to tears, was when she pitched a shut out in the championship game of the 2009 ASA Rec Metro Championships in Houston, TX.  It was awesome for me to win my first big tournament has a head coach, but more importantly to see her bounce back from a below average performance just an hour and a half earlier against the same team.  It was a great day, and a great feeling, and I was so proud of her, and I still am.Smile
