Something that is very important about foul tips is that there is NO VERBAL CALL for a foul tip.  The finger tip sweep is used, then the strike call is made silently, so that that runners on the bases don't mistakenly hear "FOUL" instead of "FOUL TIP" being called.  Should reiterate that here.  Of course on a strike out foul tip, verbal call is fine.
