University Of Louisville Head Coach Sandy Pearsall gives a clinic on Aggressive Base Running.

Always look at taking the next base! A base runner has to be involved in every play and watch for all mistakes that could be made and take advantage of that so that that softball base runner can advance! Paying attention to where the other softball teams players are positioned is a great tool to determine if you have time or an open opportunity to steal!

With lead-offs make sure that the runner has the proper foot work that works best for her to get of the bag the fastest to get to the next base. It also never hurts to get the advise from a running/track coach so that he/she can observe and give advice on how to improve running stance.

When sliding, Sandy suggests head first slides for steals, but then again it really depends on the player and what she succeeds the most with.
