This drill will provide muscle memory and strength training for catchers when they receive a pitch.
Begin by drawing a cross in front of the catcher while he/she is in position behind the plate. Crouching down on one of the lines, a catcher should be able to pop-up and land on the other line that crosses it.
Continue repeating the pop up motion and remember that when a catcher throws, their hand should always be brought up to their ear and then throw.
Combining the “pop-up” and the proper throw will gain speed on the throw down to second.
