She started playing softball at age of seven and started pitching at the age of eight. She played through high school and college and all way in to the Olympics. She was spotted by the coach of the University of Arizona and went on to play college softball there. She won three championships while playing there and then realized she wanted to go on to play in the Olympics and for the National team.

Amico is also about to become a coach for the USSSA Pride and will be coaching some of her former softball teammates. She is very excited to coach at this level and is excited to work and learn things from other athletes because she knows how when playing or coaching there are always new things that someone can learn.

Amico is also part of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is on the board of directors and speaks at many places about how Christ works through athletes. She works with a lot of other people in the softball community to show how Christ works in his own role of the sport.
