This drill focuses on coordination, speed and may also ease nerves concerning incoming pitches.
This drill requires the catcher, a second player or coach, and two wooden paddles with ropes.
The catcher will crouch in full gear, with the wooden paddles tied to his/her hands instead of gloves. Be sure the catcher has a wall behind him/her.
The second player/coach will repeatedly throw balls to the ground directly in front of the catcher so that the catcher may block the balls with the paddles on his/her hands.
