What Is The Ball Speed Of An Average High School Pitcher's Fastball?
by Dr. Sherry Werner Ph’D

Produced By Gary Leland

In this episode of the Fastpitch Softball Chat Show, Dr. Sherry Werner answers this weeks question about the average ball speed of high school fastball pitchers.

Dr. Werner and her team have done studies for over 20 years on ball speed and a hundred other factors in mechanics.

Many radars and speed measuring devices out there vary in their accuracy rates up to 50 mph, and Sherry recommends which devices to use when measuring ball speed.

Dr. Werner says when looking at their database of high school pitchers they train, they have found an average ball speed of 53-56 mph. And the range of their data goes from 48-62 mph for average fastball pitch speed.
