In this episode of Fastpitch TV we bring part one of Shonda Stanton’s clinic at SoftballCon talking about how small ball can lead to big results. Shonda says at her level they use a 27 or a 28 to first base and it is important to time on first contact unless they are a power slapper.

There are several base running drills that will teach players how to be aggressive in their base running and base stealing. Shonda also shares her successful game commands in which she utilizes to keep players engaged whether they are in the dugout or on the field. This clinic teaches the different types of slap hitting, soft touch or power slapper and who you should utilize as your slappers. The biggest objective in these drills is just make contact and then give them a target and let them figure out how to get it to the target without guidance.

This episode is packed with fastpitch softball drills from bunting to slapping and everything in between to make your small ball strategy a success!
