Warming Up For Fastpitch Softball Pitchers? by Dr. Sherry Werner Ph’D Produced By Gary Leland

In this episode of the Fastpitch Softball Chat Show, Dr. Sherry Werner discusses the thought process behind why it is important to warm-up before a game, practice, or lesson for a windmill pitcher.

Dr. Werner believes it is critical when you think about the speed of movement these pitchers go through, to warm up before pitching. Especially with girls she has seen in Texas, when they have to travel long distances and arrive on the field. They may have been sleeping or its cold, and how that will effect the muscles used as a pitcher.

If you think of our muscles as a rubber band, if you put that rubber band in the freezer and immediately try to stretch it to full potential after taking it out it will break. Our muscles are the same way. They need to be stretched and worked before performing.
